“Creating Opportunities for Our Curiosities”
Christians are asking questions...
The rumble is getting louder. Youtube, the evening news, magazines, podcasts, and your
distant relatives are all commenting about Islam. Many Christians have questions about Islam.
What is the message of the Qu’ran? What is Sharia Law? What’s life like for a Muslim in
America? These are good questions with good answers. Unfortunately, most people never have
the opportunity to ask these questions to actual Muslims. They are forced to sift through the
noise and agendas of the media.
Muslims are asking questions....
The rumble is getting louder. The chatter among your friends at the Mosque, the commentary of
secular media, and your friendships with “evangelicals” at your office has left you with questions
about Christianity. You are a Muslim. Christians seem so similar, yet they seem to believe some
strange things as well. Why do they call Jesus the “son of God”? What are “missionaries”? Why
do they eat a small piece bread during their worship service? These are good questions with
good answers. Unfortunately, most Muslims never have the opportunity to ask these questions
to informed followers of Jesus. Muslims are forced to sift through the noise and agendas of the
media.
Peace is impossible without understanding...
We live in a world where everyone is talking, but nobody is listening. If we have questions
about another faith, the respectful response is to ask those questions to people from that
religion, rather than from a video on YouTube. The “Quick to Listen” initiative is based on James
1:19, “Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.” This
initiative seeks to create opportunities to ask questions in a safe environment of mutual respect.
